MacGregor Recruitment have a great opportunity for a CNC Process & Development Engineer to join our client, an established and successful UK manufacturing business that fabricates a wide range of windows and doors using CNC machines as part of the production process.

With investment in new ERP order processing systems they have created a new opportunity for a CNC Process & Development Engineer join the business.

This role sits between manufacturing and systems and is focused on managing and improving how product data is converted into CNC machining instructions - to help integrate, improve and manage the new operating systems, and to help link the systems product data with the CNC machining instructions and production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with key business stakeholders - significantly the IT Systems Manager, Technical Manager and Maintenance - you will take ownership of the CNC preprocessing function, reducing manual intervention and disruption to production and improve efficiency
  • Development of the CNC preprocessing system (OptiCAM / PEPs), including macros, machine definitions, and conversion logic
  • Reduce reliance on manual adjustments currently required to process product variations
  • Support the introduction of new products, hardware, and manufacturing requirements
  • Improve efficiency of CNC machining processes and cycle times
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve CNC-related issues and improve outputs
  • Support integration between ERP / Window Designer outputs and CNC processing
  • Document system behaviour and introduce structured change control
  • As the CNC environment becomes more stable the role will evolve towards ongoing process optimisation and efficiency improvements, supporting efficient introduction of new products and improving the utilisation of CNC machinery across the business.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong CNC programming experience within a manufacturing environment (routers / machining centres preferred)
  • Experience working with CAM or CNC preprocessing systems (e.g. Alphacam, Maestro, OptiCAM, or similar)
  • Good understanding of machining processes, tooling and production constraints
  • Ability to work with rule-based or parametric programming approaches
  • Experience of supporting or improving production processes is desirable
  • Exposure to ERP or manufacturing systems is advantageous but not essential
  • Background in window/door manufacturing would be useful but is not required

Note:

As the CNC environment becomes more established the role will evolve towards ongoing process optimisation and efficiency improvements, supporting efficient introduction of new products and improving the utilisation of CNC machinery across the business. In our opinion this role offers the opportunity to develop into a specialist position over time, with support to build excellent knowledge of the clients systems and processes.

Package

  • Salary range of £35-50k depending on skills & experience.
  • Excellent benefits package including pension, employee support and big brand retail discounts.
  • Working times are 08.00-16.30 Mon-Thur / 08.30-13.30 Fridays
