Senior Product Design Engineer

MacGregor Recruitment are specialist recruiters for the fenestration sector.  We have a great opportunity for a Senior Product Design Engineer to join the design team of one of the UK’s leading uPVC extrusion and fabrication companies.

Collaborating closely with internal production and technical service teams this is an excellent opportunity to develop new product concepts and deliver cutting-edge fenestration products optimized for manufacture that push the boundaries of design and performance.

Senior Product Design Engineer role:

• Lead the development of innovative, high-quality fenestration products - bring creative ideas to life by exploring new design possibilities, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
• Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create detailed, innovative designs and 3D models 
• Lead the prototyping process by creating functional models to test innovative design concepts
• Use your knowledge of extrusion processes and tooling to design products that can be innovatively produced at scale and are optimized for efficient production, assembly, and cost-effectiveness
• Collaboration with Production & Technical Service Teams to ensure feasibility 
• Work with the technical service team to identify real-world challenges during installation or field use, and iterate designs to solve these problems 

Skills & Knowledge:

• Significant previous experience of commercial product development from concept to manufacture is essential
• Specific experience and knowledge of the fenestration sector (extrusion, fabrication and installation knowledge) is essential
• Excellent 3D AutoCAD and SolidWorks skills and advanced Microsoft Excel 
• Experience of prototyping, product testing and real-world performance evaluations
• Strong people, communication and problem-solving skills - with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• An ability to mentor and inspire junior team members 

Package:

Salary anticipated as circa £42-50k DOE.  Good employee benefit package that includes company pension, life assurance, retail and entertainment discounts package.
